“Maryen is a talented and committed songwriter. This carries over into her passion for promoting and encouraging her fellow songwriters. Maryen's songwriters nights in Sydney were first class.” - Multi Award Winning Songwriter Allan Caswell
Maryen is an experienced Workshop Facilitator mainly working with creating new songs in a group writing environment. The workshops are lyric focused and story driven, with a "song" being defined as "words that are sung".
Some of the groups & festivals she has worked with include Guernsey Arts, the Somerset Celebration of Literature (now renamed StoryFest), Southern Cross University Ukulele Club, and Remote Community Schools across Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
Maryen is now based in Guernsey in the Channel Islands 🌞 so is available in the UK and the EU.
Workshops can be tailored to ALL age groups! Maryen has worked with adults, teenagers, school children and even pre-schoolers!
The Song written is owned by everyone involved, unless agreed otherwise. The song can be tailored to a specific subject or theme, as requested.
A single Workshop is usually one session of two hours duration. However the Workshops are entirely flexible and a course can be run more individually based, and over several sessions.
An age appropriate performance can be integrated alongside any workshop opportunity.
Back in the 2000's Maryen ran a weekly night as a supportive environment and community for songwriters, Sydney Songwriters.
Maryen is now based in Guernsey in the Channel Islands 🌞

“Thank you so much for making the time to visit our community and work with and perform for our students. The song is amazing and I can't believe it was created in one session. I have sent a copy to the teachers and a few of our community members. also, I hope to use it for a video project with the high school music class- creating a film clip for the music. I will send you a copy of the completed project.” - Francis Fernandez, LaGrange RCS, Bidyadanga, Western Australia
“What I admire most about her is that she does not compromise in her songwriting. She is always searching to tell a story, a story with meaning and significance.” - Mataya Clifford
“The staff here have fond memories of your visit last year and ask that this year would you please conduct the song writing with all children, rather than just two groups.” - Barry Ennis (Luurnpa Catholic School, Western Australia)
